About Us

This is a co-ed, non-tumbling sideline and competitive cheer team.

All athletes and families represent the Southwest High School Cheer Program and Minneapolis Public Schools.  We adhere to all policies and guidelines set forth by the district.

The program runs consecutively through the fall and winter seasons.  All scheduled functions and events are mandatory, including community events, home football, soccer, and basketball games, practices, competitions, school events, and serving as ambassadors for the school.

There will be a 2-day tryout session in May for both the sideline and competition teams, with one last tryout session right after school begins in September. 

*Please note that a cheer athlete is not assured of being on the Competition Team until tryouts are completed and the Competition Team is selected. 

If you are selected to join the Competition Team, you must participate in both the fall and winter sideline.

In the fall, all cheer athletes will cheer at HOME football games and the Super Soccer Saturday event.

During the winter, the team will focus on the competitive season, but will cheer at some HOME women's and men's basketball games. Basketball sideline is NOT optional if you wish to participate in competitions.
